Oxted

Reminders of the community’s original village, called “Old Oxted” is still evident as a small street with four pubs; The Old Bell, The George Inn, The Crown Inn and the Wheatsheaf. The pubs are the heart of social life in the area .

The Oxted Church was built north of the original village and is now surrounded by the new growth of the town. The church dates back to Norman times and it is speculated that the original structure was constructed of wattle and daub before being replaced with the stone structure that remains today.
