Lower Edmonton

Lower Edmonton is located in the borough of Enfield and the main ancient road from London to York via Lincoln runs through it, dating back to Roman times. The All Saints Church in Church Street dates back to Norman times. The remains in Church Street of the old village still exists next to Victorian workmen’s cottages and apartment blocks built in the 1960s.

Although it technically lies in the northern part of town, Pymmes Park is still worth mentioning here. It dates back to 1327 when a gentleman by the name of William Pymme built a mansion in the area. In 1899 the council purchased the land and opened it as a park in 1906 in response to an increase in population.

Pymmes Brook runs through the park, and the park itself has a bowls club, tennis courts, a games area, football fields, children’s playgrounds, an ornamental pond, and a Victorian Walled Garden with grade II listed walls and many plants. Drive in your car hire from Pymmes Park to Jubilee Park, opened in 1939, also located in Lower Edmonton.
