Hackney

Hackney is the London Borough with the locality of the same name being divided into South Hackney and Central Hackney, as well as Hackney Downs. When you get a remortgages or mortgages company that you can trust, you should be able to get good interest rates and repayments when you want to move into the Hackney district. This area was popular until the end of the Georgian era and most of the court of King Henry 8th had there homes here. The area was affected by the Second World War and many of the homes were destroyed leaving the government to build the post war modern housing that is readily available today. There are, however, some Victorian and Georgian terraced homes that you can find and buy with your mortgage if you are lucky.

Here you will find some old buildings like the Hackney Empire which is one of the oldest music halls in the UK. There is also the old Town Hall and gardens, library and Methodist Hall which was joined in 2001 to create the Ocean Music Venue. The oldest building in Hackney Central is the St Augustine’s Tower which dates back to the 13th century. There is a vibrant shopping area along Church Street and there are new developments for shops and housing taking place where the Burberry Factory is, making it more possible for you to get some cheaper housing in this great area. There are also plenty of transport links here and the education is very good.
